Dear Mom

What have I done to you?  I took your son?  No.  As I see it, I haven’t attempted to do anything besides love your son and attempt a constructive relationship with you.

There are times I’ve been extremely angry with you and I have explained my anger to you once.  I do not deserve the careless treatment that I receive.  I am a human being!  I am sorry if you are dealing with your own issues, please don’t use me as a punching bag.  Don’t poke jabs at my marriage when you want to deflect the accusations that you do not communicate well, because you don’t.

From experience, I suspect you figure that you can trip me up when you try to attack the relationship I have with my husband.  Congratulations!  It works, but only at your own expense.  I don’t defend my relationship to you because there is no need and it only solidifies my belief that you are a hateful and spiteful woman.  I feel sorry for you, I feel sorry for your son, and I feel sorry for those of us forced to interact with you.

Regrettably Yours,
The Other Mom
